Dazzling Stars

Since the beginning of the year, I had been working on this quilt for my in-laws.  "Dazzling Scraps" (Quilt Magazine Jan/Dec 2012) was chosen as our Sew Day group project for the year.  It was a fun scrappy project to put together!  I named my version "Dazzling Stars" and that's pretty much what we've all called it from the beginning anyway!

"Dazzling Stars"
My mother-in-law asked me if I could make a set of "regular" pillowcases to go with it, so when they came to visit, I made the guest bed up with their new quilt and pillowcases.  I guess my father-in-law thought that the pillows were for him as well and packed them right up in the car.  I guess making up the bed wasn't my best idea because I used my husband's Marriott pillows that I bought for him last Christmas!  Uh-Oh!

Just thought I'd share a couple of photos from a Sew Day get together a couple of months ago.

Sew Day - June

And...some more pictures from our monthly Sew Day.  As you can see, I often take candid shots without warning (and this often gets me in trouble with the ladies?!?!?).

Sew Day - June
Top:  Lisa choosing civil war fabrics for a Prairie Women Sewing Circle project, June stitching fabric folded bowtie blocks, Susan working on a Veteran's Quilt, & Kathi making faces behind her machine!
Bottom:  Vicki cutting out more pieces of an old BOM & Judy and her sister (I forgot her name, oops!) working on a commissioned jean quilt and asking for lots of advice from the group!

Sew Day - April

Another fun "Sew Day" has come and gone.  Here are the ladies this time around, many cutting out or sewing on the quilt guild's mystery quilt, but other's just doing their own thing...

Each year, the Sew Day group chooses at least one "group" project to work on and this year it is "Scrappy Stars" (2 photos on the right).  Lisa also brought the signature quilt she is making for her mother to share with all of us...

Always good to get together with a bunch of quilty ladies!

Sew Day!

Only the three of us for Sew Day this month!  What happened to everyone?  Lots of stuff going on this month I guess...

Here's Viola and Debbie (and Debbie yelling at me, and Debbie grumbling at me...) working on their Veteran's quilts.  That's what we were all doing and it wasn't even planned that way!

Sew Day - February

I've been so busy that I've completely neglected my blog.  I've got so many challenges going in the quilt guild, Sew Day and in blogland that I forget to blog about them (but I have been remembering to snap pictures)!

These are a few photos from our Sew Day this month.  It's always a fun day of sewing and sharing!  The center photo is my version of our 2013 Sew Day quilt, "Dazzling Scraps."  There are two more being displayed in the top right corner!  Its a fun, but tedious one!

So, what did I accomplish at Sew Day (besides a ton of chatting and admiring everyone else's projects)?  Well, I just finished quilting 2 baby quilt panels (guild challenge) and a quilt for the Veteran's Home, so I set myself to tacking bindings down by hand.  This is a great activity for Sew Days because I don't have to lug my machine!
