Sew Day - April

Another fun "Sew Day" has come and gone.  Here are the ladies this time around, many cutting out or sewing on the quilt guild's mystery quilt, but other's just doing their own thing...

Each year, the Sew Day group chooses at least one "group" project to work on and this year it is "Scrappy Stars" (2 photos on the right).  Lisa also brought the signature quilt she is making for her mother to share with all of us...

Always good to get together with a bunch of quilty ladies!

Lazy Sunday - Part 2

Well, here they are...the units and blocks from Lazy Sunday, Part 2!  I'm using a mix of batiks and mottled/blender fabrics for the colored piecing.  For the lights, I just pulled anything with a white background, no beige/off-whites in this one, therefore it's looking very BRIGHT!  The grunge photos are muting it down (if you can believe that)!

"It's A Gatherin'"

A couple of weekends ago Kathi, Lisa & I drove up to "It's A Gatherin'" in Stover, MO.  I had full intentions of taking lots of pictures...well, I failed, but we had so much fun.  First, we drove through Barnett (a beautiful Menonite country town) and stopped in at our favorite Bernina Shop, Top Stitch, affectionately known as "Timothy's," and then shopped in a couple of the local fabric stores.  I asked to take a photo of this beauty in one of those shops as I think it will give me some inspiration regarding what to do with my VERY old "Grandmother's Fan" UFO!

Next, it was on to Stover and "It's a Gatherin'."  If you're not from MO, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about, so...really, this is just a chance to shop at all of our favorite quilty shops all in one place!  Many stores from all over MO and even OK and IA were invited to participate and they all just set up a booth to sell, sell, sell.  Fun!

We also stopped in at a few of the local Stover shops, but I was unwilling to pay $3.25 for a FQ, so I didn't buy anything else in town.  I can't believe that price...I was wondering if that's the regular price up there or if they were just upping it for the weekend!!!??!

Before coming home, we stopped by the Lake stores and ran in JoAnns and another LQS down there.  All in all, a fun day with a couple of fun ladies riding along!

Pairie Women's Sewing Circle - Journey 2

...journey the threads of time...

One week ago, the Prairie Women's Sewing Circle gathered once again, dressed in the fashion of the day, here in the Ozark Hills of Missouri.  We began Journey Two needles at hand, with good friends and a story or two about our neighbors and "making do."  We've set a plan to meet back at the Thread Peddler to catch up each month.

Sweet & Sassy

Just for fun, I thought I'd repost a couple of pictures of my "Sweet & Sassy" quilt.  It was constructed with "squishie swap" blocks from a group on the old "Quilts Your Way" forum.  The forum has since been shut down and boy, do I miss it...there was a lot of talent there and the quilty camaraderie cannot be compared to other boards (IMHO).  Anyway, "Sweet & Sassy," made for my youngest daughter:

The real reason I'm posting pictures of this quilt again is because my daughter is just too cute wrapped up in her quilt on the couch!  Pretty soon, she'll be off to college, too...graduation is right around the corner!

Finally Finished! Easy Street

I'm so excited to finally show my completely finished "Easy Street"!  This was a mystery by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville fame.  Clues were given over several weeks beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving.  Bonnie has been so generous over the years, sharing so many free patterns and offering a twice yearly mystery (one of which is going on now in Quiltmaker magazine)!  Thanks Bonnie!

And a few close ups of the Daisy & Dragonfly panto longarm quilting done for me by May Gunter:

More Veteran's Quilts

This is probably the last post about Veteran's quilts for the year from me.  Maybe.  I just added the bindings to these 3 beauties, after my friend, Kathi, finished the meander quilting on her longarm.  I can't take credit for all of them, but the top one (Bowties) I pieced, both front and back.  And in the second one, well, Suki (the dog) is mine, too, but I can't take credit for the quilt!

Lazy Sunday Part 1

Is anyone playing along with Bonnie Hunter's "Lazy Sunday" Mystery in Quiltmaker Magazine?  I'm loving it so far, but the directions in the magazine are so much more difficult to follow than the way Bonnie explains things!  Either way, I'm having lots of fun working on this project!  Here's some photos of Part 1 (directions published in Quiltmaker issue Mar/Apr '13):
