Dresden Quilt Workshop Quilt-Along Challenge Week #3

Since I was a bit late with last week's Suzn QuiltsDresden Quilt Workshop Challenge...
...and all of the tools, fabrics, patterns, etc. were still out all over my sewing space...
I went ahead and finished up week #3!
4 Dresden filler blocks
Now that we're getting into cutting oodles of tiny petals and lots of setting pieces, I was beginning to get concerned about like colors and patterns landing next to each other, so....
I got busy coloring in my coloring page!  The fabric collection I am using ("Gratitude" by Jo Morton) only has a 4-color palette.  It does include slight variation in hue, so that helps, but...only using 4 basic colors and trying not to have them touch (too much) was becoming tricky.  Susan provided this great template for just that reason!
I'm finding that it sure does help to follow a color plan -- at least it gives me a jumping off point!
And....here's the beginnings of my Dresden Quilt Workshop Sampler thus far :)

Dresden Quilt Workshop Quilt-Along Challenge Week #2

Today I finished up my week #2 segments from Suzn QuiltsDresden Quilt Workshop Challenge.  Yes, today is the day that the week #3 challenge was published - which makes me only a day late and still keeping pace!

Here's what I've done this week...
1 Tiny Dresden 4-patch block
1 sawtooth border strip of 6 HSTs and a square
2 sawtooth border strips of 7 HSTs and a square
So, that's week #2!  I've been using Jo Morton's "Gratitude" collection for Moda.  I'm really loving the way it's working up in this project so far.  I'll take some natural light photos soon so you can see the true colors of these gorgeous fabrics - these pictures are much brighter than they are in person.

So much special thanks to Susan Marth for the patterns, quilt-along and the gift of this fabric collection.  What a great friend and designer!

Dresden Quilt Workshop Quilt-Along Challenge Week #1

Yay!  It's starting!  The day is here!  It's time to begin....
Yes, "I'm so excited....and I just can't hide it..."
Suzn Quilts' Dresden Quilt Workshop Challenge began yesterday!  Do you know about it?  If not, click that link on the top of my sidebar to get all of the details OR click any of the clickable links I'm embedding into this blogpost!
Susan Marth of Suzn Quilts is offering a FREE Quilt-Along on her blog for the next 26 weeks!  She's broken the challenge down into small, do-able steps that can be done weekly to make that CUTE, CUTE, CUTE quilt shown in the poster above.  All you need to get started is her book and a few tools that she recommends to get your absolute best results (Best Press, Roxanne Glue, etc.).
So...what was the challenge this week?  A little buttonhole stitch applique!
And that, my friends, is my finished Dresden Workshop Challenge week #1 block!  Only 25 more weeks to go....
